Acceptable Use Policy
The following document specifies and describes the rules and regulations
for acceptable use on the detectorist.co.uk forum and by registering as a member you agree you have read and accept this AUP.
You are invited to participate to the discussions on this forum and express your views, comments, insights and/or criticisms related to the subjects discussed here. In order to provide the highest quality experience for other members of this community, please follow the simple rules listed below. These are simple guidelines, not a complete list; the administration of the forum through its representatives - the administrators and moderators - have final say about specific actions to be taken for each violation of the rules. The forum is a moderated environment, which means the administration has the right to close or delete any thread it considers unacceptable for any reason, to edit or delete individual posts and to restrict access to various functions or sections of the forum. The administration has no intention to censor messages based on the opinions expressed within posts, however it will enforce the rules below. By participating on the forum you agree to respect these rules.
Basically, the ground rules are simple: Be polite, use common sense, don't abuse any privileges and don't break the law. Keep in mind that you and everyone else are here to have a good time.
Night Hawks (thieves using metal detectors) are not welcome on this forum, if evidence becomes available that proves any member is involved in illegal activites with a metal detector then their accounts will be de-activated forthwith and their names made public on the forum.
Members will not choose usernames that are either inappropiate or offensive.
By registering here at detectorist.co.uk you agree to receive emails from the Admin regarding the forum. You will upon registering provide a VALID email address, failure to do so could result in membership being suspended until a valid email address is supplied.
You will not behave in an abusive and/or hateful manner, and will not harass, threaten, nor attack anyone or any group. There will be no racially, sexual or physically abusive or inciteful language tolerated. Any abusive comments made by members will be removed by the Moderating staff and the user issued with a warning or banned, as deemed appropriate by the Moderating staff. No personal attacks on other members will be tolerated. If you question someone, it must be done in a reasonable and friendly manner. Violating this rule will be grounds for suspension and/or permanent removal from the Forum.
Staff members (Admin, moderators and finds advisors') dedicate their free time to help with the running of the forum. Please respect their decisions. We will not tolerate members questioning any staff decisions / actions on open forum, if you have reason to question / query ANY staff decision / action then you will do it via PM to the staff member concerned or admin. We will not tolerate abusive behaviour / messages towards any member of staff via any means at all.
You will not use profanity in our forums, and will neither post with language or content that is obscene, sexual or link to sites that contain such content.
Avatars and pictures used in signatures that are deemed inappropiate will be removed - "inappropiate" in this case is anything that could cause offence and will be ultimately down to the discretion of staff and any decisions are final.
You will respect other people's right to personal privacy and will not post any other members identifying information (including their names, contact information, and any other relevant information) within the forum or anywhere else but your own information.
You will not use these forums to violate any laws nor to discuss illegal activities.
You will not use these forums to impersonate any person or entity, forge headers or otherwise manipulate identifiers in order to disguise the origin of any posting, nor collect or store personal data about other users
You will not sign up using multiple usernames, anyone found to be using more than 1 username without good reason faces the prospect of suspension or removal.
Posts that are made to deliberately attack other forums will not be tolerated and will be deleted.
Before a member is allowed to post adverts in the classified section that member MUST have made a minimum of 10 posts on the forum or been a member for a minimum of three months, failure to comply with this rule will result in adverts being removed.
You will not post messages that are clearly outside of the stated topic nor disrupt the forum by deliberately posting repeated irrelevant messages or copies of identical messages (also known as "flooding"). Spam - wasteful comments and posts, as judged by our moderators, will be removed and the member warned or banned.
You will not advertise any commercial services or goods, be it in a post or signature unless permission is granted by the administration. Rallies and digs are exempt from this rule and are automatically granted permission.
You will not use anonymous proxies to deliberately hide your online identity to access this forum, anyone found doing so risks suspension / deletion from the forum
You will not attempt to access any protected sections of the sites or Forums, nor make use of any hacks, cracks, bug exploits, etc. to bypass or modify the features of the forum software at any detectorist.co.uk site.
The detectorist.co.uk Forums are not public domain and membership can be withdrawn by the board owner at any time for any reason. The moderators reserve the right to refuse or delete any message for any reason.
At all times, you remain solely responsible for anything found within your posts and agree to indemnify and hold detectorist.co.uk and its subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, agents, co-branders or other partners, harmless from any claim or demand, including reasonable attorneys' fees, made by any third party due to or arising out of any material you submit, post to or transmit through the Forums.
The content of all posts including text & images remains the copyright of the original poster and may not under any circumstances be reproduced anywhere without the explicit full consent of the poster and/or the forum owner. Failure to gain afore mentioned permission is copyright infringement and will be persued to the full extent of the law.
www.detectorist.co.uk provides through our team of finds advisors the facility to have your finds identified, even so, we encourage members to also record their finds with relevent recording authorities, ie, PAS, UKDFD etc.
In a nutshell all we ask is you act in a civil manner and follow the rules We are pretty lenient, but there is a line and if it is crossed, we will act accordingly. We don't want to warn/ban any members but if it places the forums integrity at risk then we have no choice, my priority is the forum and anything that threatens it will be nipped in the bud very quickly.
This AUP will be revised in the very near future and all members will be notified of any changes made as and when necessary.
Thanks
